Infection prevention in the clinic
People visit us for many reasons—some related to acute illness and some not. Thoughtful infection control protects patients who are pregnant, elderly, immunocompromised, or recovering from surgery, as well as our staff. We take these measures seriously.
When you book, please tell us if you have fever, new respiratory symptoms, a known contagious illness, or a concern that could require isolation precautions. We can schedule appropriately and advise you before you arrive.
Please clean your hands with sanitizer when you enter. Many common infections spread through hand contact. Masks are available at reception if you have respiratory symptoms or were asked to wear one.
If you are coughing or sneezing, wearing a mask in waiting areas and exam rooms reduces droplet spread. Ask our team if you need a mask or a separate waiting option.
Shared toys and books are difficult to disinfect fully. You are welcome to bring a quiet toy or book for your child if that makes the visit easier.
What to bring
Arriving prepared helps your clinician focus on clinical decisions—not paperwork.
- Valid Ontario health card (or other provincial coverage, if applicable) and photo identification.
- Government-issued photo ID if your health card does not include a photo.
- Information about supplemental insurance (if you have coverage through work or a private plan).
- Relevant test results, consultant letters, or imaging reports requested for this visit.
- Up-to-date emergency contact and your current phone number, email, and pharmacy.
- An up-to-date medication list, or the bottles for prescription and non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and supplements. Mention recent changes from specialists or walk-in visits.
- A brief list of other clinicians you have seen recently, with the reason for the visit and key recommendations, if available.
