Our Policies

  • Code of Conduct

Trita Medical Clinic maintains professional communication standards and expects courtesy from patients. The practice prohibits abusive behaviour, threats, harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, yelling, screaming or discriminatory statements toward staff or physicians. Violations may result in permanent dismissal from the practice.

  • Accessibility Policy

Our Accessible Customer Service Policy covers assistive devices, communication accommodations for disabilities, service-animal access to public areas, support-person accompaniment, temporary-disruption notices, staff training on accessibility, welcoming hiring practices with accommodations, accommodation-request procedures, and feedback mechanisms.

  • Phone Appointments

Available when clinically appropriate, at the treating physician’s discretion.

  • Phone Calls

Office staff handle incoming calls. Appointments are preferred for assessments; diagnosis and new prescriptions are not provided over the phone.

  • Prescriptions
    • Take medications as prescribed and report suspected mix-ups or reactions immediately.
    • Keep prescriptions at one pharmacy where possible.
    • Bring your medications to visits and disclose alternative treatments.
    • Doctors provide the maximum safe prescription duration with repeats when appropriate.
  • Lab and X-Ray Tests

Normal results are typically not communicated by phone. Abnormal or significant results are communicated with a follow-up plan. You may book an appointment to review results by phone or in person.

  • House Calls

Limited to chronically housebound patients. Emergencies should be directed to the nearest hospital or by calling 911.

  • Consultations and Specialists

Your doctor provides referral requests and arranges specialist appointments when needed. Please contact the practice first for new problems; family physicians often provide the needed care, and an initial visit ensures specialists receive your medical history.

  • Reminders for Preventive Services

Letters are sent for overdue immunizations or disease-detection tests; phone reminders follow when needed. Patients remain responsible for scheduling these services.

  • Insured Services

Please present a valid Ontario health card (OHIP) at each visit. Invalid cards may result in a request for payment at the time of visit.

  • Uninsured Services

Fees for uninsured services are posted in the waiting and exam rooms, and on our Uninsured Services page.

  • Confidentiality

Our practice complies with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Records are protected against loss and unauthorized access. Health information is released only with prior written consent. Voice messages left at home contain no health details unless you have given prior authorization.

  • Keep Us Up To Date

Please notify the practice of any change to your address, phone number, or health card so we can reach you about abnormal results, overdue preventive services, and medication warnings.
